The little winter that could
Winter here in Lansing isn’t like it used to be, so we tend to celebrate (or, depending on our outlook, grumble about) the arrival of snow any time we can.

I mean, it’s only an inch of snow – if that – yet it magnifies the beauty of the environs exactly many times over.

If you look closely, you can see the carpeting of maple leaves that cover the path here. X-ray vision or a good imagination will be of great use as you look closely…

Sadly, though, I didn’t. As I started on again, each step I took made a seriously loud CRUNCH of boot into snow…

…which, try as I might to quiet down, finally spooked the neighborhood deer. The mallards, though, were cool with me being there.
To you who have seen that last picture before (love you), and to you who haven’t – happy Christmas!

GORGEOUS pictures. Few things are as beautiful as a frosted forest.

Beautiful photos, Sid. We so seldom have a white Christmas and you have provided me one vicariously – THANKS!

I get the white Christmas thing, but I’m mostly happy it was not so white as to make travel difficult here. Merry Christmas, Louis.

Are you really? That has to be kind of rare, doesn’t it? I hope you’re enjoying the holidays and the snow, Lori – keep warm.

I didn’t even saw the deer the first time I looked at it! Beautiful animals!

I wish it was a better picture – I’m glad you found her! Merry Christmas to you, Dianda, and to BF and Hiro and Suki!

It’s a great picture! She’s just very well camouflaged.

Such beauty in the stark winterscape. Shows up the bare bones, the inner workings of trees… and how vulnerable the deer looks. Rich season’s blessings to you and family.

And to you, Liz!

Beautiful, Sid. Rockwellian if there were some ice skaters.

What a magical place! Wish I could teleport myself there right now!

Work on that, SSG… It’s been a magical place since I was a little boy, feeding the ducks.

Plan for today: work on apparating
January 5, 2013 at 2:14 pm
Holy crap, SSG – be careful! That’s higher level magic, apparating. I mean, have you even passed your OWLs?

I haven’t. But I have a special dispensation for being so talented
January 6, 2013 at 10:52 pm
Well, let’s see it then, if you’re so talented.
